June Events in Carmel Indiana

Carmel Indiana is a great place to live because of it’s convenient location, great schools and sought after homes; but also because of all the events available to the area residents. Jazz

We have already covered the Carmel Palladium Concert Series in a previous post, but let’s talk about the live Jazz on the Monon concerts! They are held on Saturday nights from 6-9 p.m. on the SW corner of the Monon and Main Street.

It is similar to the Symphony on the Prairie events in Fishers, in that you bring your own chairs/blankets and spread out to enjoy the music.

This Saturday, the 25th, you can enjoy Monika Herzig and on July 23rd you can enjoy the Splinter Group and on July 30th it will be the Slammer Jazz Quartet and the final show will feature Blair Clark on August 6th.

Mayor Brainard on the city of Carmel Indiana

Mayor Brainard along with most of the residents of Carmel think it is a wonderful place to live. From the top rated Carmel school system to the many parks and trails it offers and the new Arts District downtown; it is notably a great choice to live and raise a family. Carmel Arts District

Mayor Brainard in a discussion last week talked about the growth of Carmel, from 25,000 to 80,000 in the last 15 years. The parks and green space has increased to over 800 acres. The new Monon Center has brought even more to do in Carmel.

Businesses continue to want to move into the Carmel area; creating more green for the Carmel budget.

He gave a few updates including that relocation of the Farmer’s Market. It is now in the green area by the Palladium. This allows for 30 more vendors, easier access in and out for vendors and customers and has free parking.

He also gave a brief update on the “why only one High School in Carmel”. It is economical to run just one. They can offer more special programs usch as a planetarium, foreign language expansion (most recently Mandarin) and more clubs for the kids.

I’ve been writing about the real estate market in Carmel for a few years and continue to emphasize its affordabiity and popularity. The neighborhoods in Carmel vary from old to brand new and there is always something fun to do from concerts at the gazebo to the shows at the Palladium.

Carmel Indiana residents prepare for the Marathon

There are so many races this time of year in the Indianapolis area! We started with the Mini 500 the first weekend in May, which my daughter had time to run about 6 miles of (before her sister grauated from BSU)…so she made a turn to get back to the start area and ended up with the top runners …I’d say that was a wrong turn! Runner

The Geist Half Marathon was last weekend with a beautiful day to run a race around the Reservoir.

But coming up on June 11th is the Carmel Marathon at (yawn) 7:00 a.m. The course starts at 3rd and 126th and runs along 126th through several parks including Founders Park, Heritage Park and River Road Park.

There will be a lot of Carmel Real Estate that will have great views including Plum Creek, Moffitt Farms and the Hawthornes. If you are curious what homes are for sale in these Carmel neighborhoods, it’s an easy click.

There is a full marathon, a half marathon, an 8K walk/run and a 1 mile family fitness walk. They all have various registration fees. Carmel Indiana Easter Egg Hunt

Not too far from Carmel, at 116th and I69 will be the annual Easter Egg Hunt! An empty field will be transformed into an egg hunt delight for the kids on April 23rd!

Spring Fling Easter Bunny There will be all kinds of activities including a cake walk, bounce house, magicians and balloon twisters and face painters.

The egg hunt will be outside and each child can collect as many eggs as they want; as long as they are all different colors. They can then exchange them for prizes!

This event is hosted by the Marchant Team; they also sell Carmel Real Estate!

A photographer will be on hand to get that great shot of your child with our Easter Bunny! We hope to see you there. Email me for location and times. Although remember our egg hunt goes all morning; we don’t start right at the beginning so you can come anytime to find eggs and prizes!

Easter Egg Hunt in Carmel Indiana

Let the fun begin! The Rotary Club in Carmel is sponsoring their Adult Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 16th at the Monon Center. This will be held in partnership with the Carmel/Clay Parks and Recreation folks.

Easter Egg Hunt in Carmel It is for adults age 18 and older; finally an egg hunt for us! Knowing how competitive adults are, they have 4,000 eggs that will be hidden with prizes to local stores and restaurants (Sullivans Steak House and Flemings to name drop!). And what would an egg hunt be if it didn’t have a golden egg! Good news, there will be 20 of them at this event! Some of those prizes will be a flat screen tv and an iPad2!

This will be a really fun event as adults walk the scenic trailsof Central Park to find the eggs. But more importantly you will be helping the Rotary Club of Carmel; their mission is to help those in dire need and 100% of your fees will be going to their cause. They are currently about 165 members strong who live by the motto…”Service Above Self”.

The event will be held on Saturday, April 16th from 7-10 p.m. at the Monon Center. You will need to bring flashlights and comfortable shoes. Registration is at 7:00 and the Hunt begins at 8:00. The cost is $8.00 in advance or $10.00 on the day of the event. There will be refreshments for sale also.

Taste of Carmel

Carmel Real Estate residents will be enjoying food and fun this Thursday at the Taste of Carmel! Carmel Indiana

It is an adults only event and will be at the Ritz Charles on Meridian. It will be held from 6:00 to 9:00 on Thursday, March 3rd. There will be over 25 Carmel area restaurants participating. Some of those will be Sullivan’s, Scotty’s, The Melting Pot, Macaroni Grill, Ted’s Montana Grill and Cold Stone! Another favorite that will be there is family owned Bub’s.

There will also be a silent auction (4 Tickets to Walt Disney World, 10 one day passes to the Monon Center, and more) and also live entertainment featuring Blair Clark, a smooth and soulful R & B artist. Blair has lived in Carmel for over 20 years and has a son that attends Orchard Park!

This event is presented by the Orchard Park Elementary School PTO and all of the proceeds will go to the school for the student programs.

So if you are looking for a great night out that benefits education, this is your time!

Taste of the Chamber in Carmel Indiana

We’ve spent the last few posts on the Carmel Real Estate market, so let’s spend a few talking about some great events in Carmel. The Taste of the Chamber is January 20th from 4:30 to 7:00 at the Ritz Charles off of Meridian at 12156 N Meridian Street. The phone number for the Ritz is 317-846-9158. This is the 10th annual for this event, so very successful! Carmel Arts District

There are going to be some great restaurants participating including A2Z Cafe, Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Chef Suzanne Catering, the Glass Chimney, Ruth’s Chris Steak House and Vine and Table (yes, there will be wine and beer!).

Pricing is $5.00 for Chamber members and $10.00 if not.

It will be a fabulous evening for tasting a sampling of the fine foods and wines, socializing and networking.

Another great event will be a the Carmel Palladium! Did you know they added another show for Vince Gill? His second performance will be on March 22 (the 23rd is already sold out!). Gill has received 18 CMA Awards and 19 Grammy Awards. Get your tickets at the Center for Performing Arts site.

Carmel Palladium Concert Season

All the residents in Carmel and the surrounding area have been watching the Carmel Palladium being built. It has been touted as the crown jewel of old town Carmel.

It cost about $150 million and has used limestone from Indiana in its construction. It is about 85 feet from floor to dome and speaking of the floors, they are Italian stone. There are 65 glass panels and the Palladium seats 1600 in the concert hall. There is also a 500 seat proscenium theater and a 200 seat studio theater.

The new concert series is out and has five distinct series as follows:

Classics
Great American Songbook
Jazz Roots
Country
Dance

In the Classic series, you can see the Viena Boys Choir on March 5th, Kronos Quartet on April 17th or the Cleveland Orchestra on May 22nd.

In the Songbook series, Marvin Hamlisch opens on March 20th and Debby Boone from “You Light Up my Life” fame appears on April 15th and Glen Campbell is on June 4th.

Jazz Roots opens with Jazz Meets Gospel on February 19th along with 3 Generations of Divas on March 26th. David Sanborn is at the Palladium on May 20th with Super Sax.

The Dance Series has Tango Buenos Aires on March 16th and Savion Glover on April 1st.

In the Country series (probably my favorite) is Vince Gill on March 24th, the Wright Brothers on April 9th, Clint Black on June 17th.

The Center for Performing Arts will serve as a museum and educational center by day and a concert hall by night. It will be exciting when it opens in January.

There is quite a bit of Carmel Real Estate for sale near the new Center for Performing Arts if being within walking distance is in your future.
