Carmel Realtor talks about Renovating Kitchens in Eco Friendly Terms
Posted by searchcarmelhomes under For Buyers, For Sellers, General Information, Renovation Advice
With 850 homes for sale in Carmel; residents may be considering renovation instead! I recently renovated my kitchen and wanted to share some of my “ah ha’s” with you and also share a video about renovating your kitchen in eco friendly terms.
Things that you must consider in renovating any room:
- Current building permits require that all fire alarms be brought to code, meaning one must be in every bedroom and on each level.
- When considering “opening” areas, you not only have to consider load bearing walls but also walls that may have duct work, electrical or plumbing inside of them. Electrical and plumbing are easier to re-route than duct work so be sure you know what is in your walls before you consider taking them down.
- Choosing flooring for a kitchen was a choice of which hardwood for me; in retrospect, I wish I would have been choosing between ceramic tiles. Hardwoods scratch very easily and I don’t even have a dog.
If you want to go green in your renovation of you kitchen, I suggest listening to this video. It is from the National Association of Realtors.
If after careful consideration; you are convinced a new home is in your future, let your Carmel Realtor know and I can provide market data that will help you price your home to sell and also give you tips on how to sell it faster.
My statistics are 59 Days on Market for calendar 2009 and I am achieving 96% sale price to list price!
